We traveled to New York to present the wines from the New World Winery of the Year in Descorchados, an event organized by Patricio Tapia, a renowned figure of the wine sector, who year after year includes in his Guide the best wines of the region.
Bodega Garzón participated in the event along with other 100 wineries, where different outstanding wines were presented. This was a great opportunity to continue presenting Tannat as Uruguay’s emblematic grape, which found in Garzón the perfect terroir to grow.
It is an honor for us to continue participating in these events that exhibit the wines from our region in such an important and fast-growing market such as the United States.
This year we achieved a new milestone with Balasto, Garzón’s iconic wine, which was chosen as the Best Red Wine of Uruguay and Best Red Blend with 96 points.
We obtained the following awards:
Best in other Red Varieties: Petit Verdot Single Vineyard 2017 – 94 points.
Best Cabernet Franc: Petit Clos – 94 points.
Best Merlot: Merlot Single Vineyard 2016 – 93 points.
Albariño Single Vineyard 2018 – 93 points.
Tannat Single Vineyard 2017 – 93 points.
Albariño Reserva 2018 – 92 points.
Cabernet Franc Reserva 2017 – 92 points.
Marselan Reserva 2017 – 92 points.
Tannat Reserva 2017 – 92 points.
Best New / Best Sauvignon Blanc: Sauvignon Blanc 2018 – 92 points.
Best Rosé: Pinot Noir Rosé 2018 – 92 points.
Best New: Brut Rosé – 92 points.
