For the second time, a wine from Bodega Garzón is included in this prestigious international ranking, being once again the only Uruguayan winery to have a wine among the world’s best 100.
Setting a new milestone, Bodega Garzón’s Albariño Reserva 2022 was selected in the position #52 of the Top 100 ranking that every year American magazine Wine Spectator elaborates, one of the world’s most important magazines in which opinion leaders and referents of the wine industry participate.
Bodega Garzón is the only Uruguayan winery to have a wine selected among the best 100 in the world with its Albariño Reserva 2022, a fresh and mineral wine, whose fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks and concrete vats, and whose maturation is from 3 to 6 months on its fine lees.
Among its achievements, this wine has received 93 points by Tim Atkin Master of Wine, 92 points and silver medal by Decanter, 17 points by Jancis Robinson, 92 points in Patricio Tapia’s Descorchados guide, 92 points by Adega magazine, 91 points by James Suckling and 90 points by Wine Enthusiast magazine.
Other vintages of this wine have also received outstanding international recognition, such as 95 points and a gold medal by Decanter, 94 points by Steven Spurrier, 92 points by Wine&Spirits magazine, a gold medal at Vinalies Internationales and double gold at the Sakura Japan Woman’s Wine Awards.
Albariño is a grape variety that has found excellent conditions to develop in Garzón. The winery currently has 41 hectares of land used to grow this grape, making it the largest producer of Albariño in all the Americas.
It is the second time that a wine from Bodega Garzón is included in this ranking, since in 2017 the Tannat Reserva 2015 was ranked #41.
Bodega Garzón is an avant-garde building that has become the most important wine venture in Uruguay. Founded by Eng. Alejandro P. Bulgheroni and belonging to the Alejandro Bulgheroni Family Vineyards group, it has a vineyard of about one thousand three hundred plots and a sustainable building of 19.050 m².
Other milestones achieved by Bodega Garzón in recent years: launch of Balasto 2020 in the exclusive Place de Bordeaux, inauguration of the exclusive Private Club The Garzón Club, integrating in 2023 the prestigious Top 100 Wineries of Wine & Spirits, the outstanding inclusions of Balasto 2015 in the TOP 100 ranking of Wine & Spirits and Tannat Single Vineyard 2017 in Masters Of Wine, being chosen as Winery of the Year by Descorchados Guide in 2020 and 2021, having the best winery restaurant according to the prestigious Decanter and being chosen as the Best New World Winery by Wine Enthusiast in 2018.
