Cielo de un solo color \u2013 No te va gustar (2004)<\/a>.<\/strong> Sets a message of optimism in the colors of the sky and traces a parallelism with the flag, inviting Uruguayans not to leave the country since illusion is still alive. \u201cHay algo que sigue vivo, nos renueva la ilusi\u00f3n\u201d <\/strong>(there is something still alive, renovating our illusion.)<\/p>\n

Una canci\u00f3n a Montevideo \u2013 Mauricio Ubal (1992)<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong>This song is considered to be a anthem to Montevideo as it represents faithfully the Uruguayan capital. \u201c\u2026 Esos techos de rambla infinita\/esas voces con techos de nada\/ todo viene a esta mansa bah\u00eda\/ mar de fondo de nuestras palabras\u2026\u201d. <\/strong>(Those infinite bayside roofs \/ those voices with roofs of nothing \/ everything comes to this calm bayside \/ ground swell of our words).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Durazno y Convenci\u00f3n \u2013 Jaime Roos (1985)<\/a><\/strong>. Refers to the corner of Montevideo in which the author lived as a young man and describes poetically his experiences.<\/strong> It has become a corner of touristic interest.<\/p>\n

Candombe del Olvido \u2013 Alfredo Zitarrosa (1979)<\/a>.<\/strong> \u201cBarrio Sur\u201d in Montevideo is the neighborhood where most of Uruguayan folklore is congregated, neighborhood of black people, of carnival, of humble, solidarity and fraternal people; it is the neighborhood where the genius Alfredo Zitarrosa grew up.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A Don Jos\u00e9 \u2013 Ruben Lena (1960)<\/a>.<\/strong>\u00a0It is recognized as Artigas national anthem and has been declared \u201cUruguayan popular and cultural anthem\u201d, in this milonga the hero Jos\u00e9 Gervasio Artigas is kept alive \u201ccon libertad, ni ofendo, ni temo\/ \u00a1Que don Jos\u00e9!\/ oriental en la vida y en la muerte tambi\u00e9n\u201d <\/strong>(With freedom I do not offend or fear, that Mr Jose, Oriental during life but in death as well).<\/p>\n

El Himno de la Rep\u00fablica Oriental del Uruguay \u2013 Francisco Acu\u00f1a de Figueroa (1848)<\/a>.<\/strong> National symbol along with Coat of Arms and official flags, they are all object of cult<\/strong>. It is played in national ceremonies and some local, national or international shows if a Uruguayan is protagonist.<\/p>\n
